In Tennessee and North Carolina,
short term medical insurance can be purchased on a monthly basis. Some insurance companies offer short term
insurance for 1 to 6 months and some for up to 12 months.
Short term medical insurance would be a good choice if you are waiting
for group insurance to start on your new job. It is a good alternative to COBRA.
Short term medical usually has an annual deductible before benefits
go into effect. Most of the time there are no co-pays and deductibles range from $500 to $2500.
This is good protection for unforseen catastrophic
medical conditions. It is not an option if you are interested in long
term protection with outpatient co-pays.
This type of insurance usually cost alot
less than COBRA premiums
